- Using a UV sterilizer in a reef tank What is the sterilizer? It is a container, usually in a near tube shape, in which an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescent lamp is contained. The lamp emits light at around 254 nm. The lamp is constructed of quartz glass to prevent the UV being absorbed as it would be if ordinary glass were used. The lamp is in a container of its own to shield it from the water, and then there is an outer container. The space between the containers is very small allowing full penetration of UV light. The water is passed between the outer and inner containers by a pump or power head.

There are two ways to...- Greening Our New Home - So Far, So Good...Mostly. So here we are in week #4 in our new home, 1000 miles away from our old home. Back in California, we had our "green-ness" down pat - we knew where the good stores were, we knew how much water we were using, we watched our energy usage and knew what to expect when the utility bills showed up. But now it's a different story as we have to re-learn the different ways we can be green here in Taos, NM. Starting over is both very exciting...and a lot of work at the same time.

Multiplication For Kids - Learn Times Tables now! We’re concerned with marine aquariums, so what is meant by ‘home’ and ‘habitat’? It’s pretty obvious that whether the marine aquarium is a reef or fish only system there’s going to be livestock in it. So we need to...
Study Skills for Children With so many distractions in the home – TVs, radios, computer games, the sounds of traffic outside and the general commotion in the home, children are likely to develop poor study habits and skills. I had a startup contact me, an offer of an officer position with a investment bank and a new contract position...- Danger And The Saltwater Aquarium What wonders our reef or fish only aquariums are. There can be no argument that they are a thing of beauty, with inhabitants created by nature. To sit and watch a marine aquarium is to enjoy calm. Diving or snorkelling on the wild reef is very similar on a large scale. Nature is showing off, anything I can do you can't do better. Colourful fish in swarms against a blue background and under a rippling silver sky. Corals in many colours, some swaying to the music of the sea. What an idyllic scene.
